JORDAN KING, AUSTRIAN LAWMAKERS DISCUSS REGION, TERRORISM

VIENNA, Austria, Nov 19 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan King Abdullah II stressed the importance of legislative institutions in Jordan and Austria, in promoting ties between the two countries.

The King made the remarks, as he visited the Austrian Parliament, which comprises the National Council and the Federal Council.

During the visit, King Abdullah met with President of the National Council, Doris Bures, and discussed with him the latest developments in the Middle East region, as well as, the international efforts to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

The King renewed his condemnation of the terrorist attacks that hit the region and the world as well, calling for united efforts by the international community to confront terrorism in the whole world.

King Abdullah also met with the Austrian Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence and a number of political parties’ leaders in the Austrian Parliament, and discussed with the lawmakers, the Syrian crisis and efforts with the international community to address the crisis.

The spokesperson for the Austrian Social Democratic Parliamentary Group for Foreign and European Politics, Christine Muttonen, said in a statement to Petra that, “We should deal with the threats of the international terrorism not only at the military level, but also try to find solutions to economic problems in the region and promote cultural and interfaith dialogue.”– NNN-PETRA
