EGYPT’S SISI URGES JUST SOLUTION TO PALESTINIAN-ISRAELI CONFLICT

Egyptian President, Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, stressed the importance of reaching a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Sisi’s comments came during his meeting with visiting White House advisor, Jared Kushner, U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law.

The delegation also involved the U.S. special representative for international negotiations, Jason Greenblatt, and deputy national security adviser, Dina Powell.

Meanwhile, Sisi underlined efforts by Egypt to revive negotiations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

The Egyptian president also said, a lasting settlement to the Palestinian cause will help make a new reality in the Middle East, and refute claims by terrorist organisations in the region.

He expressed Egypt’s readiness to prop up all international efforts on this score, in the coming period.

The decades-long Palestinian-Israeli conflict emerged, since the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and the Western-backed creation of Israel in 1948.

The Palestinians seek to establish an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital, in light of the UN-proposed two-state solution, based on the pre-1967 borders.

24 years of U.S. sponsored peace process has so far failed to give the Palestinians a state, on the territories occupied in 1976, that include the Gaza Strip, West bank and East Jerusalem
