ARAB LEAGUE MARKS LAND DAY, URGES FOR RESTRAINING ISRAEL

CAIRO, — The Arab League, on the Land Day, urged the international community to coerce Israel halt settlements’ construction and demolition of Palestinians’ villages and houses.

On the 41st anniversary of the occasion, the league said in a statement that Israel must be forced to stop enacting “racist laws namely ones that ban prayer calls” and others designed to speed up demolition of thousands of Arabs’ homes.

The Land Day symbolizes the Palestinians’ commitment to their homeland and identity and rejection of the Israeli occupation.

The Palestinian people continue to face policies of violence, racial clearance, judaization of the land and the sanctities, the league said in a statement.

It called on the UN to pressure Israel abstain from collective punishment against the Palestinians, expropriation of Palestinians’ lands and draining their resources.

“The Land Day is a distinguished Arab and Palestinian occasion for recalling the injustice suffered y the Palestinian people,” it says.
