General Court of Audit Hosts 5th Meeting of SDGs Oversight Working Group of INTOSAI

Riyadh: The General Court of Audit hosted today the fifth meeting of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Oversight Working Group and the Key Sustainable Development Indicators of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI). The organization is chaired by Russia and has the Kingdom and 35 other countries as members.

The meeting discussed several items on its agenda, including the working group’s annual report for the year 2023-2024, the approval of several related work guidelines, and the review and discussion of member institutions’ experiences in overseeing the SDGs in several countries.

The delegation of the General Court of Audit shared the bureau’s experience in “Oversight of Sustainable Development Goals: Phase of Assessment and Added Value,” where they reviewed the methodology adopted in carrying out oversight activities, the bureau’s commitment to standards and guidelines issued by INTOSAI in this regard, and the importance of continuous and effective communication wit
h relevant sectors to monitor progress indicators in achieving SDGs.

The President of the General Court of Audit, Dr. Hussam bin Abdulmohsen Al-Angari, met with members of the delegations participating in the meeting and wished them success and prosperity.

The working group concerned with the oversight of SDGs started its work in 2007. It aimed to exchange knowledge among the group’s member institutions. The group has significantly contributed to the development of working papers on the oversight of SDGs for INTOSAI member institutions.
