Jeddah: The General Authority of Awqaf, in active community partnership with King Abdulaziz University, announced the organization of a distinctive edition of the 'TEDxKAU' initiative under the theme 'Beyond the Moment'. The event, scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, will be held under the patronage of Governor of the General Authority of Awqaf Imad bin Saleh Al-Kharashi, with the attendance of President of King Abdulaziz University Dr. Tareef Alaama.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this edition of the initiative targets young people, aiming to raise awareness of the vital role played by the Awqaf (endowment) sector in economic and social development, and to motivate them to contribute to it. It also seeks to enhance community participation in supporting and adopting endowments, and to attract a new generation of donors by showcasing successful local and international endowment experiences. The event further aims to inspire individuals and institutions to launch new initiatives that boost the sector's contribution to the GDP in line with the Saudi Vision 2030.
Al-Kharashi stressed that the event aligns with the authority's strategy of enhancing and spreading the culture of endowments as a civilizational, economic, and development tool embraced by society. He noted that it creates a vital link between endowments and youth, in harmony with the goals of the national vision.
Alaama highlighted that the initiative reflects the university's commitment to supporting development programs and reinforces its role as an active partner in achieving sustainable development. He added that the partnership with the General Authority of Awqaf highlights the integration of national efforts to achieve the development objectives of both the university and the Saudi Vision 2030 through raising awareness of the role of endowments and empowering young people.
