GEA Chairman Announces ‘The Comeback’ Undercard in Jeddah

Jeddah: Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and President of the Saudi Boxing Federation Turki Alalshikh announced the undercard for "The Comeback", which will take place in Jeddah on Saturday, July 25. The event will feature major world title bouts, with Britain's Hamzah Sheeraz defending his WBO World Super Middleweight Championship against Germany's Simon Zachenhuber, while fellow Briton Josh Kelly puts his IBF World Super Welterweight Championship on the line against undefeated Irish challenger Caoimhin Agyarko.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the event will be headlined by the highly anticipated heavyweight showdown between Britain's Anthony Joshua and Albania's Kristian Prenga. Staged as part of Jeddah Season in collaboration with Riyadh Season, and in partnership with Matchroom, Sela and Goldstar, the event will be broadcast exclusively worldwide on DAZN.

Josh Kelly enters the bout after capturing the IBF title earlier this year with a victory over Russian boxer Bakhram Murtazaliev, while Agyarko receives his first opportunity to compete for a world title after his title eliminator, scheduled for earlier this year, was canceled.

Hamzah Sheeraz returns to the ring following his WBO title triumph in Egypt this past May and will make the first defense of his championship against Simon Zachenhuber in one of the evening's marquee contests.

The card will also see Japanese fighter Reito Tsutsumi return to Saudi Arabia following his victory at Riyadh's 'Night of the Samurai' event last December, as he takes on Mexico's Alvino Herrera. Olympic gold medalist Oleksandr Khyzhniak of Ukraine will make the second professional appearance of his career against France's Lenny Patrach.

British boxer Mikie Tallon will make his Saudi debut against Venezuela's Orlando Pino, while India's Nishant Dev, bronze medalist at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, continues his professional journey against Peru's Cesar Diaz.

The undercard also features a bout between Poland's Pawel August and Denmark's Jacob Bank after August produced a major upset earlier this year by defeating Simon Zachenhuber despite stepping in as a late replacement with limited preparation time.

On the local front, three of Saudi Arabia's leading professional boxers return to action on home soil. Mohammed Alakel will face Malta's Lydon Chircop, Ziyad Almaayouf takes on Mexico's Frank Mango, while Sultan Almohammed meets Spain's Efren Besalduch.

The card will also showcase Egyptian talent, with Omar Hikal facing Spain's Brian Castellano and Mohamed Mabrouk taking on Colombia's Bryan Zapata, as both continue their rise on the international stage.

Fight Week begins on Wednesday, July 22, with the 'Grand Arrival' at Jeddah Yacht Club, followed by the official press conference on Thursday and the weigh-in on Friday at Jeddah Promenade. All Fight Week events will be streamed live worldwide on DAZN.
