General

Sofia: The General Council for Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions (GCIBFI), a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), on Thursday launched an e-learning platform aimed at strengthening professional training and expanding capacity-building initiatives across its member institutions. The platform is designed to broaden access to specialized training and support the development of qualified professionals in the Islamic finance industry.

According to Saudi Press Agency, in its first phase, the platform will offer the Certified Islamic Professional in Sustainability Management in Islamic Finance (CISM) program, which provides participants with practical tools and strategic insights to integrate sustainability practices within Islamic financial institutions. The program focuses on addressing climate-related risks and emerging opportunities, aligning institutional operations with Sharia principles and international sustainability standards, and supporting the development of long-term sustainable value in the Islamic finance sector.

GCIBFI said the program will enable participants to gain deeper understanding of sustainability management in Islamic finance and its relationship with risk management and regulatory compliance, while highlighting current practices that contribute to the growth of sustainable Islamic finance. Participants also will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts through interactive sessions and practical exercises aimed at enhancing professional expertise and advancing careers in Islamic finance.
