GCC Women Affairs Standing Committee Holds 1st Meeting

The Sultanate of Oman hosted today the 1st Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Standing Committee for Women Affairs meeting.

The two-day meeting discussed the status of women in GCC countries and the decision of the Ministerial Council in its 154th session on joint GCC action in the field of women’s affairs.

Held at the premises of the Consultative Commission of the GCC’s Supreme Council, the meeting also discussed the strategy of GCC joint action in the field of women’s affairs.

GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi highlighted women’s high economic participation rate in some GCC countries as well as the elevated percentage of seats occupied by women in executive positions.

Albudaiwi praised GCC women’s great accomplishments in contributing to prosperity, development, and the advancement of society, stressing the GCC Standing Committee for Women Affairs’ crucial role in highlighting GCC women’s achievements.
