Istanbul: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi met with Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) Philippe Lazzarini in Istanbul, Republic of Trkiye, on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) today.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the meeting, Albudaiwi stressed the importance of continued international community support for UNRWA. The discussion focused on recent developments in the humanitarian and relief situation in the Gaza Strip, the occupied Palestinian territories, and refugee camps, highlighting the worsening conditions.
Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC states' supportive stance on mobilizing regional and international efforts to deliver aid to the Palestinian people. He emphasized the need for unrestricted entry of humanitarian assistance through all crossings and called for an end to the Israeli occupation forces' violations of UNRWA centers and aid distribution points.
Lazzarini expressed his appreciation for the efforts and contributions of the GCC states in supporting UNRWA as it addresses the challenges faced by the Palestinian people.
