The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, met with Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Saadeh Al-Shami in Washington on the sidelines of the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG). They discussed Gulf-Lebanese relations, and Albudaiwi praised the GCC countries' ongoing humanitarian support for Lebanon. Albudaiwi affirmed the GCC's support for the Lebanese people, expressing solidarity, calling for increased international aid to alleviate civilian suffering, and expressing hope for Lebanon's stability.
