Kuwait city: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi affirmed that the GCC states have made great and notable efforts to enhance the safeguarding of public funds in all its forms through their regulatory bodies. His statements came during the 22nd meeting of the Heads of the Financial and Accounting Audit Bureaus of the GCC states, held today in Kuwait City. The meeting was chaired by Chief of the State of Kuwait's Audit Bureau Esam Salem Al-Roumi, the current session's chairman.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi praised the joint efforts undertaken by the GCC states to develop the performance of their supervisory bodies and to work on coordination and integration among them in this important aspect of joint Gulf action in order to serve the lofty objectives of the GCC.
In a related context, he addressed the training strategic plan for the 2023-2025 period and its initiatives, which will contribute to supporting development and capacity-building efforts in audit work and the draft of the training strategic plan for the 2026-2028 period, which is an extension of the previous plan and aims to anticipate the requirements of the next phase and enhance professional competence in the audit bodies.
The secretary-general indicated that the General Secretariat had prepared the agenda for this meeting based on the outcomes of the 26th meeting held on July 30, 2025, which includes a range of important topics that will contribute to strengthening the course of joint Gulf action in the field of auditing and accounting.
