GCC Secretary-General, European Council President Discuss Joint Initiatives

Brussels: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi and European Council President Ant³nio Costa discussed a range of joint initiatives and projects, emphasizing the importance of strengthening GCC-European Union (EU) cooperation to achieve mutual prosperity and serve the interests of both sides.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting took place yesterday in Belgium on the sidelines of the ninth Brussels Conference on Syria. The two officials reviewed ways to enhance and develop GCC-EU relations within the framework of their strategic partnership and followed up on the outcomes of the first GCC-EU Summit, which was held in October 2024 in Brussels.

They discussed regional and international developments, stressing the need to end the crisis in Gaza in accordance with international and UN resolutions. Albudaiwi expressed appreciation for the European Council's stance in supporting the Palestinian cause and condemning Israeli violations against Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied territories.

Additionally, the two sides commended the EU's role in supporting stability in Syria and reaffirmed their commitment to regional and international efforts aimed at enhancing security and stability in the region and beyond.
