Riyadh: Under the patronage of Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Alkhorayef, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi participated in the 21st General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The conference was hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and organized by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. It was held alongside the 53rd session of the Industrial Development Board (IDB) on Sunday and was attended by representatives from various member states and leaders of the industrial sector globally.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the GCC secretary-general noted that Saudi Arabia's hosting of the 21st UNIDO General Conference underscores its pivotal role in advancing innovation and fostering multilateral cooperation in industrial development. The event also highlighted Saudi Arabia's contributions towards developing joint solutions for challenges related to sustainable industrialization, innovation, and technological transformation.
Albudaiwi commended the conference's sessions and objectives, which focused on exploring solutions and opportunities in industrial development. The sessions also emphasized the empowerment of women and innovative youth. He stated that the conference serves as a platform to strengthen partnerships between governments, the private sector, and civil society. He expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia's efforts in hosting the event and its commitment to supporting industrial development initiatives in developing nations.
