GCC Secretary General and Turkish Deputy Minister Explore Transport Cooperation

Muscat: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary General Jasem Albudaiwi and Turkiye's Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Omar Fatih Sayan met today in Muscat, Oman, on the sidelines of the 8th Indian Ocean Conference themed "Voyages to New Horizons of Maritime Partnership," to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in the transport and logistics sector.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting involved a review of topics related to cooperation in the transport and logistics sector. The officials also examined several projects undertaken by the Turkish private sector in GCC countries within this field.

The discussion included the outcomes of the first joint meeting between the Gulf Railway Authority and member states with the Turkish side on railway matters, which took place in May 2024.

Both sides highlighted the importance of collaboration and strengthening relations in the transport sector. They acknowledged its role in advancing economic relations within the GCC and working toward common goals, mutual interests, and sustainable development.
