GCC Secretary General Advocates for Enhanced Food Security Cooperation with WFP

Munich: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi emphasized the necessity and significance of bolstering food security and humanitarian aid, particularly in light of escalating crises both regionally and globally. This occurred during a meeting today with Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP) Cindy Hensley McCain on the sidelines of the 61st Munich Security Conference in Germany.

According to Saudi Press Agency, during the meeting, they reviewed the WFP's initiatives to support countries grappling with hunger and food insecurity, along with programs designed to restore food security, such as the "Changing Lives" initiative, which focuses on enhancing the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations.

They discussed methods to improve collaboration between the two sides in the areas of food security and humanitarian aid, highlighting the importance of coordinated and increased global efforts to address the challenges of delivering humanitarian and relief assistance and ensuring that aid reaches those in need.

The GCC Secretary General commended the WFP for its vital role in delivering urgent assistance, emphasizing the GCC's support for all initiatives related to food security. The WFP Executive Director acknowledged the efforts and humanitarian aid extended by GCC countries, highlighting their significant and invaluable contributions to addressing both regional and international humanitarian challenges.
