Sochi: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi affirmed that the Strategic Dialogue between the GCC and the Russian Federation is an important platform for strengthening relations between the two sides and exchanging views on regional and international issues of common interest, including threats to regional and global security.
According to Saudi Press Agency, this statement was made during the 8th Joint Ministerial Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue between the GCC and the Russian Federation, held today in Sochi. The meeting was co-chaired by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, President of the current session of the GCC Ministerial Council, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov, with the participation of the foreign ministers of the GCC countries.
Albudaiwi stated that the meeting takes place amid circumstances marked by numerous crises facing the region and the world, including political and security challenges that affect security and stability. In this context, the GCC countries emphasize that the optimal way to resolve all conflicts and disputes is through negotiations and peaceful, diplomatic means, prioritizing dialogue and respecting the rule of law, in line with international laws that ensure the preservation of security and stability and the achievement of greater prosperity and development.
The GCC secretary general expressed hope to continue enhancing joint cooperation between the GCC and the Russian Federation in various fields such as politics, trade, culture, education, agriculture, health, and energy, within the framework of the Joint Action Plan (2023-2028). He confirmed that the GCC General Secretariat is fully prepared to discuss all possible aspects of cooperation with the Russian side. Additionally, the Secretariat plans to present proposals for cooperation in tourism and cybersecurity in the coming period.
