Riyadh: The Permanent Committee for Statistical Work of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held its 13th meeting today at the headquarters of the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) in Riyadh, with the participation of GASTAT President Fahad bin Abdullah Al-Dosari.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the opening session, Al-Dosari welcomed the heads of national statistical agencies of GCC countries, expressing the Kingdom's appreciation for the pivotal role played by the GCC Statistical Center (GCC-STAT) in coordinating joint efforts and enhancing Gulf integration in the statistical field. He stressed the importance of unifying statistical efforts and developing joint work mechanisms to keep pace with international developments.
He affirmed GASTAT's commitment to strengthening cooperation with GCC statistical agencies to establish an integrated statistical system aligned with the development visions and programs of GCC countries. He also emphasized that statistical integration among GCC states represents a fundamental pillar in supporting economic and social growth while enhancing the region's presence in international reports and indicators.
The meeting discussed key statistical developments shared among GCC countries and reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation and integration in statistical work to better support decision-makers and meet the requirements of sustainable development.
The meeting concluded with several recommendations aimed at enhancing the exchange of expertise and experience among member states, developing the Gulf statistical infrastructure, and intensifying joint programs to build national capacities in the statistical field, contributing to continued development and the achievement of comprehensive statistical integration across GCC countries.
