GCC chief lauds Gulf women’s role in society

The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Budaiwi praised on Tuesday the role of the Gulf Women Affairs Committee.

This came in a speech delivered by Al-Budaiwi during the first meeting of the Gulf Women’s Affairs Committee held in the Omani capital Muscat, a statement by the GCC Secretariat said.

The committee’s meeting is sponsored by the Omani ministry of Social Development and headed by the current sessions Chairperson Maani Al-Bosaedi with the participation of members of the permanent committee for Women’s’ Affairs in the GCC countries.

The meeting will work on coordinating efforts of the GCC countries in international events and conferences related to Women’s issues, and highlights policies, systems, and laws in this regards in all fields, Al-Budaiwi noted.

Al-Budaiwi stressed that the GCC countries were keen to raise the level and competence of women, support them and their active participation in all fields at the local, regional and international levels.

He expressed his thanks, appreciation and gratitude to the leaders of the GCC countries for their wise guidance and support for all matters related to Gulf women.
