Geneva: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi met today with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Gilbert F. Houngbo in Geneva, Swiss Confederation. The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between the GCC and the ILO to promote social justice and workers' rights.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Jasem Albudaiwi commended the ILO's efforts in advocating for social justice and the protection of workers' rights. He highlighted that GCC states have implemented various regulations and legislation aimed at safeguarding workers' rights in accordance with international standards.
Gilbert F. Houngbo expressed gratitude towards the GCC states for their substantial support of the ILO's initiatives. He acknowledged the progress made by GCC countries in the realm of workers' rights and social justice.
The meeting also covered several topics of mutual interest, with a particular focus on reviewing and enhancing the cooperation relations between the GCC General Secretariat and the ILO. Discussions included various proposals aimed at unifying efforts to further the shared objectives of both the GCC and the ILO.
