Riyadh: The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) released today the Industrial Production Index (IPI) statistics for December 2024, showing a 2.1% increase compared to December of the previous year, driven by growth in manufacturing, water supply, sewerage, and waste management and remediation activities.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the subindex of mining and quarrying activity decreased by 0.4%, while the subindex of manufacturing activity increased by 6.3%.
The subindex of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply activity recorded a 1.9% decrease, and the subindex of water supply, sewerage, and waste management and remediation activities increased by 0.8%.
The IPI for main economic activities showed a 1.3% increase in oil activities and a 4.0% increase in non-oil activities compared to December of the previous year.
GASTAT publishes the IPI monthly as an economic indicator that reflects changes in the volume of industrial output, calculated from the industrial production survey.
