Fourth ASEAN Conference on Moderation Kicks Off in Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh:The fourth ASEAN Countries Conference has commenced its sessions in Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh. Organized by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance, the event gathers around 130 ministers, scholars, researchers, and Islamic figures from ASEAN member states.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the conference focuses on the concept of moderation and its role in fostering balance and strengthening the values of coexistence and peace. The first session delved into the theme of moderation in creed, emphasizing its importance in developing a sound theological understanding and its role in promoting intellectual security and protecting societies from extremist ideas.

Subsequent sessions addressed moderation in ethics, conduct, and methodology. Discussions highlighted the role of moderation in refining personal conduct, upholding good morals, and fostering respect, tolerance, and cooperation among society members.

The conference, spanning two days, includes eight academic sessions covering various topics. Key discussions will explore the features of a moderate approach, challenges faced by the concept of moderation, Saudi Arabia's role in promoting moderation, and its practical application in everyday life.
