Foreign Minister Represents Crown Prince at G20 Summit in South Africa

Johannesburg: On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah participated in the opening session of the G20 Leaders' Summit in Johannesburg, South Africa. The summit was held under the theme "Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Growth Leaving No One Behind: Building Our Economies; The Role of Trade; Financing for Development and the Debt Burden".

According to Saudi Press Agency, during the session, the minister conveyed greetings from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince, along with their wishes for the success of South Africa's Presidency, marking the first time the G20 meetings are hosted on the African continent. The minister reaffirmed support for member states' efforts to enhance economic cooperation and promote sustainable development on a global scale.

The minister underscored the Kingdom's complete backing for reforming the World Trade Organization and strengthening a fair and transparent multilateral trading system. He emphasized that international trade is a key pillar of inclusive development and economic stability.

He also highlighted Saudi Arabia's initiatives, in line with Saudi Vision 2030, to encourage responsible investment, sustainable industrialization, and efficient resource use to support development. The minister urged for alignment of the G20's initiatives with the Sustainable Development Goals and addressing challenges such as food security, energy, climate, digital transformation, and the reduction of illicit financial flows through international cooperation based on shared responsibility.

In concluding his speech, he pointed out that global challenges require genuine international solidarity and multilateral cooperation to build a more inclusive and sustainable global economy.

The session was attended by Minister of Finance Mohammed Aljadaan and Vice Minister of Finance and Saudi Sherpa for the G20 Abdulmuhsen Alkhalaf.
