Makkah: The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) is continuing its proactive inspection campaigns as part of intensive preparations for the 1446 AH Hajj season, conducting more than 1,329 field visits to food, medicine, and medical device warehouses in Makkah and Madinah.
According to Saudi Press Agency, these ongoing inspections and awareness efforts have contributed to a notable rise in compliance among facilities designated for storing food and medicine intended for pilgrims.
During these visits, inspection teams identified several warehouses violating approved technical requirements and took the necessary legal measures against them. As a result, 44 warehouses were closed, and 349 violations were recorded.
To enhance awareness, SFDA has launched a multilingual campaign that includes distributing brochures outlining key product-handling requirements. This initiative aims to improve safety and compliance across all facilities serving pilgrims.
SFDA intensifies its efforts each Hajj season due to its critical role in ensuring that food, medicine, and medical products meet national safety standards. These efforts are vital to minimizing health risks and ensuring the well-being of pilgrims at the holy sites.
