General

Istanbul: The first flight carrying beneficiaries of the Makkah Route Initiative departed today from Istanbul International Airport, setting course for Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. This marks a significant step in facilitating the journey for pilgrims heading to the holy cities.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Makkah Route Initiative is designed to offer efficient services to pilgrims from designated countries. The initiative ensures the completion of all essential travel processes within the pilgrims' home countries. These processes include the issuance of electronic visas, confirmation of health status, and finalization of passport procedures at the departure airport.

The initiative also provides for the coding and sorting of luggage based on the pilgrims' transportation and accommodation arrangements in Saudi Arabia. Upon arrival, pilgrims are transported to their designated residences in Makkah and Madinah, with their luggage delivered directly to their accommodations.

This initiative is part of the Ministry of Interior's efforts, implemented in collaboration with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health, Hajj and Umrah, and other government bodies, aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience for participants.
