FIG Pres. hails Egypt-hosted int’l gymnastics championship

President of the International Gymnastics Federation Morinari Watanabe expressed Friday admiration of the level of teams, including the Kuwaiti team, participating in the Egypt-hosted 4th Pharaohs International Gymnastics Championship.

In statements to KUNA on the sidelines of the opening ceremony, Watanabe wished success for all the participating athletes and the tournament organizers.

He noted that the Arab and African countries have made great stride in the gymnastic sport in the past years.

The fourth edition of the Pharaohs International Gymnastics Championship kicked off earlier today with participation of 28 countries including Kuwait.

Kuwait is presented in the international event with ten female athletes.

The inaugural ceremony at Cairo International Stadium was attended by Fahad Al-Sola, the head of the Kuwaiti and Arab gymnastics federations, in addition to local, foreign and African sports leaders.
