Family Affairs Council Heads Saudi Delegation to G20 Meeting on Women’s Empowerment

Riyadh: The Family Affairs Council led the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia participating in the ministerial meeting of the Group of Twenty (G20) Empowerment of Women Working Group, hosted by the Republic of South Africa. Family Affairs Council Secretary-General Dr. Maimoonah Al Khalil highlighted the Kingdom’s key national efforts in empowering women, stressing that Saudi Vision 2030 made women’s empowerment a fundamental pillar of sustainable development.



According to Saudi Press Agency, Dr. Al Khalil pointed out that the Kingdom’s initiatives enhanced women’s status, raising their economic participation rate to over 36%, and supported women’s entrepreneurship and strengthened their participation in the care economy as a pillar of inclusive growth and family stability. The secretary-general affirmed that national strategies related to women and family affairs place them at the core of sustainable development, reflecting the Kingdom’s belief that empowering women contributes to building an inclusive and prosperous society.



The council’s participation in these meetings underscores its national role in women’s affairs, its representative responsibilities in international forums on family affairs, and the Kingdom’s commitment to contributing to the drafting of international statements that support both women and families.
