The Amman-based Federation of Arab Businessmen (FAB) recently participated in the 3rd Emigrants Economic Conference, held in Lebanese capital, Beirut. The FAB President, Hamdi Tabbaa, noted steps to settle expatriate investments and attract new investments in their home countries is an “important” issue and has national dimensions. Tabbaa stressed need to encourage Arab expat business owners to invest in Arab countries, which would contribute to providing job opportunities for youth. According to a FAB statement on Wednesday, Tabbaa said expatriates play “an important and essential” economic and social role, seen in their remittances to their home nations, which is a “key” source of foreign reserves that propel economic growth. Tabbaa, who also heads Jordan Businessmen Association (JBA), said Arab expats are ambassadors for their homeland abroad and a link of their countries with various countries across the world. He said: “It is our responsibility today, as an Arab business community, to cooperate with expatriate businessmen, to promote Jordan’s competitive investment environment, and inform the whole world of the key projects and investment opportunities available in the Kingdom.” The conference, which was attended by more than 300 participants from Lebanon and about 30 countries, honored entrepreneurial Lebanese and Arab personalities in the investment field, including Tabbaa.
