European Stocks Close Lower

European stocks closed lower at the end of Monday's trading, affected by a decline in automakers' shares. The European Stoxx 600 index ended trading down 1 percent, retreating from an all-time high it reached last week. European automakers led the losses, falling 4 percent, with Milan-listed Stellantis shares falling 14.7 percent, after Europe's second-largest automaker cut its profit forecast for the current year. Volkswagen shares also fell 4.3 percent after it cut its annual forecast for the second time in less than three months. Despite Monday's losses, the European benchmark index rose more than 2 percent in the third quarter of this year, and recorded monthly gains for the third consecutive time. Source: Qatar News Agency
