Tabuk: The research teams at the National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) are currently implementing the second season of the saffron localization project in the Kingdom. This initiative aims to develop sustainable production models that align with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly in terms of food security and diversifying the agricultural economy.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Director General of Estidamah Dr. Khalid Al-Rahili highlighted that the saffron project exemplifies innovative agricultural solutions and is part of a strategy to enhance the national agricultural sector and achieve sustainable agriculture.
To support farmers, the center has distributed over 500,000 crocus sativus bulbs, with Tabuk Region benefiting the most due to its favorable climate and soil conditions.
The saffron localization project is essential for achieving local self-sufficiency, enhancing farmers’ income, and contributing to a sustainable agricultural economy aligned with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
