Culture Minister launches 12th edition of Samaa International Festival for Spiritual Music activities

Under the slogan of Homeland Without Borders Dr. Inas Abdel Dayem, Minister of Culture, launched the 12th Edition of Samaa International Festival for Spiritual Music founded and headed by the artist Intisar Abdel Fattah. The festival is held in cooperation with The Ministry of Culture represented by the Foreign Cultural Relations Sector headed by Dr. Heba Youssef, The Cultural Development Fund headed by Dr. Fathi Abdel Wahab and the Ministries of :- Antiquities, Tourism, Foreign Affairs, Cairo Governorate and in coordination with Dialogue Foundation for the Arts of Peoples Cultures. The ceremonies were attended by a huge turnout of different social layers and ages.

Abdel Dayem said that, for centuries, Egypt has retained its unique identity applying a perfect model of tolerance and coexistence. She added that this festival is a continuation of love and peace that began thousands of years ago and it comes under the slogan “Homeland without Borders”. She pointed out that Africa is the guest of honor of this Edition, coinciding with Egypt’s presidency of The African Union. The festival is a step to deepen Egypt’s relation with the African continent and to mix the African arts with world cultures. She noted that, in its fifth Edition, the festival sends a message of peace to the world by organizing the celebration Forum of all Religions in its fifth edition which is titled let us pray together Here � it is a song to improve the feelings and conscience and to emphasize the value of brotherhood among peoples.

For his part, the artist Intesar Abdel Fattah said that the festival aims to give us the principles of the art of listening and religious heritage songs of different peoples and the events seek to unite all humanity to create more peaceful world by representing a musical world of love and peace.

The opening ceremony, directed by the artist Intesar Abdel Fattah, was presented by the artist Samira Abdel Aziz. The Minister of Culture started the opening ceremonies by inspecting an exhibition of handicrafts and traditional crafts including:- the first international workshop for all the participating Troupe- followed by presenting concert of spiritual music, Sufi songs and Coptic songs.

It is noteworthy that the 12th Edition of Samaa International Festival of Songs And Spiritual Music will last until September 26. It will be held with the participation of more than 20 Arab, African and European countries.
