The 8th Arab Conference for Directors of Nationality and Civil Affairs Status Departments was held Wednesday at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council (AIMC) in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia. Representatives from Arab interior ministries, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Arab League, and Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) participated in the conference. The Saudi delegation was led by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior for Civil Affairs Lt. Gen. Suleiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Yahya. In his speech during the opening session, AIMC Secretary-General Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Koman emphasized that nationality and civil affairs status departments are among the most important state institutions, given their critical role in national security due to their responsibility for issuing identification documents. Dr. Koman noted that these departments must perform their duties with the highest levels of quality, precision, and accuracy to prevent crimin als from forging documents and using them for illicit activities.
