Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met on Saturday with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev, in the presidential palace of Baku, the Egyptian Presidential Spokesman, Bassam Radi, said in a statement.
The two leaders held expanded talks, according to Azerbaijani Trend News Agency.
Sisi arrived in Baku on Friday in an official visit, where he discussed maximizing cooperation and joint investments with a number of businessmen and CEOs of major companies in Azerbaijan.
The president engaged in an open dialogue with the heads and representatives of Azerbaijani companies, which reviewed their plans to invest in Egypt or expand their existing projects in a number of fields.
According to a Friday statement, Sisi is set to hold a number of intensive meetings during his visit to Azerbaijan, including with President Aliyev, to discuss enhancing political and economic relations between the two countries.
The meetings will also discuss cooperation and coordination means between both countries on the regional and international levels, the spokesman added.
Sisi’s visit to Azerbaijan comes after an official three-day visit to India, during which he held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and Indian businessmen.
Sisi also participated in India’s 74th Republic Day as chief guest as per an invitation by Modi.
A joint statement after the meeting highlighted the Egyptian-Indian determination to advance the relations between the two countries to the level of strategic partnership that covers political, security, defense, energy, and economic fields.
The statement shed light on fields in which the two countries are willing to expand cooperation, including economy, investments, capacity building, experience exchange, trade, agriculture, defense, space, disease control, climate, renewable energy, science and technology, education, culture, and tourism.
