Egypt’s police forces foil terrorist attack targeting check point in Ismailia Governorate

Egypt’s police forces foiled on Friday an armed attack targeting check point at Ismailia Governorate, near Al-Salihin Mosque.

One of the armed terrorists was killed during the attack according to AlQahera News Channel.

Police forces imposed a security cordon, as civil protection vehicles sweep the armed attack area.

AlQahera Channel aired exclusive footage from Ismailia terrorist attack showing extensive security forces, ambulances and civil protection vehicles surrounding the incident area.

No officials’ statements have yet been issued by the Egyptian authorities.

Egypt have countered terrorism and extremism ideologies over the past years since the ouster of late Muslim Brotherhood President Mohamed Morsi.

In February 2018, the Army launched a military operation titled “Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018,” targeting the hotbeds of terrorists nationwide especially in Northern and Central Sinai

However, in October 2021, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi declared the cancellation of the extension of the state of emergency throughout the country.

“It is my pleasure to share together this moment, for which we have always striven with hard work. Egypt has become – thanks to its great people and loyal men – an oasis of security and stability in the region; hence, I decided, for the first time in years, to cancel the extension of the state of emergency throughout the country,” says President Sisi on his official Facebook page.

“This decision has been made by Egyptians themselves over the past few years throughout their honest and sincere participation in the efforts of development and construction,” he added

“When I declare this decision, I do remember, with honor and respect, our heroic martyrs, without whom we would not have achieved safety and stability,” he continued.

“Together, we steadily move forward to a new republic, with God’s help and support. Long live Egypt, Long Live Egypt,” he said.
