Egypt’s food exports hit $4.12B in 2022

The Food Export Council (FEC) said Tuesday that the food industry sector’s exports increased last year by 0.5 percent to reach $4.124 billion compared to $4.102 billion in 2021.

According to a monthly report issued by the FEC January 2022 exports reached $306 million, with an increase of 14 percent, compared to the same period in 2021, as it stood at $267 million.

As for the value of exports in February 2022, it reached almost $339 million, with a decline of 0.6 percent as compared to the same period in 2021, said the report.

The value of food industry exports to Arab countries reached $2.067 billion in 2022, with a 7 percent decline, representing 50 percent of the total food exports, the report added.

Saudi Arabia ranked first on the list of importers of food from Egypt in 2022, for its total imports amounted to $370 million with an increase of 22 percent, it said.

The Netherlands was second on the list and, according to the report, Egypt food exports to it stood at $143 million, with a growth rate of 67 percent.
