Egyptian president makes phone call to Kenyan counterpart

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi made Tuesday evening a phone call to his Kenyan counterpart William Ruto to exchange views on African issues of mutual concern, particularly the efforts pertaining to the maintenance of peace, security, and stability.

The presidency’s press statement indicated that there was congruence among the two chiefs of state on the possibility of expanding bilateral relations. They also agreed on the intensification of coordination and consultation, within the joint African framework, with the aim of achieving sustainable development and stimulating endeavors targeted at accomplishing integration on all levels.

In a related context, Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources Hani Sweilam headed in February to Kenya in a two-day visit to hold talks on bolstering joint cooperation in the sector. Further, Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir stated in December that the trade exchange between the two countries was increasing as it had reached nearly $550 million in 2021.
