Health Minister Hala Zayed and her Lebanese counterpart Hamad Hassan have discussed in a phone call means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the health sector and the latest developments regarding the health situation in Lebanon.
During the telephone conversation, the two ministers talked about the airlift launched upon directives by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to equip Lebanon with urgent relief aid and medical supplies in the wake of the massive Beirut blast, which left around 190 people dead and 6,000 others injured, spokesman for the Health Ministry Dr Khaled Megahed said in a statement on Sunday.
Zayed told Hassan that Egypt is fully prepared to meet Lebanon’s medical requirements and use all its potentials to support the Lebanese people.
The health minister asserted that Egypt will continue dispatching shipments of medical supplies to Lebanon.
On his part, the Lebanese health minister thanked Egypt for its support for the Lebanese health sector following the Beirut blast, as well as providing all medications and preventive supplies to help Lebanon counter the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
