Egyptian FM meets with 15 Latin American ambassadors to Cairo

Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shokry met Tuesday with 15 Latin American ambassadors as an initiative to strengthen ties, particularly in the economic, developmental and technology sectors, and to better understand their states’ vision on ways to overcome the ongoing global economic crisis.

Minister Shokry underlined that the current global circumstances mandate consolidating solidarity and cooperation among countries sharing similar conditions and challenges. He further pointed out that Egypt and Latin America had a long history with fighting for their independence, and working together to achieve peace.

The minister also commended the existing coordination in the context of “multilateral international organizations.” On their side, the ambassadors presented their countries’ plans to expand and diversify cooperation with Egypt in the coming period.

In that context, the meeting discussed ways of increasing trade exchange, reciprocal investments, and collaborating in the fields of energy, culture, and tourism among others.
