Egyptian, Danish FMs hold talks on boosting bilateral ties

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Pepe Kofod held talks here Thursday 12/5/2022 with the participation of delegations of the two countries to discuss all files of bilateral relations and ways to advance them.

Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Ahmed Hafez said Shoukry stressed the aspiration to enhance the various files of cooperation between Egypt and Denmark and to continue to exchange visits at various levels.

He welcomed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Egyptian and Danish Ministries of Foreign Affairs regarding high-level political consultations on bilateral relations and other regional and international issues of common concern, he said, adding that this would raise the level of cooperation and coordination between the two countries.

Shoukry praised Danish projects in Egypt and stressed the importance of pumping more investments in light of opportunities offered by the ongoing comprehensive development process in Egypt, including the field of green transformation, he added.

They further discussed means of boosting cooperation between Egypt and Denmark in light of Egypt’s hosting and presidency of the 27th session of the Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27), he said.

The talks also dealt with consultation between Egypt and the European Union and the aspiration for Denmark’s support of various cooperation files between the two sides, he noted.

The two sides exchanged views on the crisis in Ukraine and its repercussions, developments in the Palestinian cause and the situation in Libya and Syria, he said.

Combating terrorism was also discussed particularly Denmark’s support for Egypt in the fight against terrorism, he added.

The two ministers agreed on the need to enhance bilateral cooperation and continue with bilateral consultation and coordination, he said.
