Egyptian archaeological mission uncovers a huge funerary building from the Greek, Roman periods

The Egyptian archaeological mission working in the Gerza cemetery, in Fayoum, succeeded in uncovering a huge funerary building from the Greek and Roman periods, and a number of Fayoum portraits.

The mission also found a terracotta statue of the goddess Isis-Aphrodite, and demotic and Greek writings on papyrus that express the social, economic and religious realities of the region’s inhabitants.
