Egypt to dispatch team work to Jordan to implement household natural gas projects

An agreement has been reached with Jordan to dispatch a team work in household natural gas connection projects, said Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Tarek el Molla.

Egypt stands fully ready to participate in the home gas distribution projects in Jordan’s cities, he added during his meeting with visiting Jordanian Investment Minister Khairy Amr, according to a statement issued by the Petroleum and Mineral Resources Ministry on Tuesday.

Molla, meanwhile, affirmed the close ties binding Egypt and Jordan in the energy sphere as well as the support of the political leadership in the two countries to enhance bilateral cooperation.

The meeting also took up Egypt’s successful experiment in delivering natural gas to homes.

More than 13.5 housing units were connected to natural gas within the past four years, the minister added during the meeting.

The minister further said that the Egyptian petroleum companies operating in Jordan topped by Egyptian Fajr Company which managed to attain successful projects in Jordan over two decades.

For his part, the Jordanian minister underlined the importance of Egypt’s participation in implementing projects in Jordan’s cities.

Technical and economic studies are being prepared by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to implement natural gas delivery projects in Jordan, he added.
