Egypt reopens ancient walkway linking key temples in Luxor

Egypt on Thursday reopened a renovated 3,000-year-old walkway that once linked the famed temples of Karnak and Luxor in the southern part of the country, in an effort to boost tourism, a major source of national income. Built in the ancient city of Thebes, the Avenue of Sphinxes was unveiled Thursday at a televised ceremony that Egyptian officials said was part of a campaign to promote Luxor as one of the world’s largest open museums.
