Education Minister Meets Chinese Counterpart to Strengthen Partnership

Beijing: Minister of Education Yousef Al-Benyan met Monday in Beijing with People's Republic of China Minister of Education Professor Huai Jinpeng, in the presence of Saudi Ambassador to China Abdulrahman Al-Harbi and Ministry of Education Undersecretary for International Cooperation Dr. Nasser Al-Aqeeli. The meeting discussed enhancing partnership in the general and higher education sectors in both countries, exploring new opportunities for cooperation, and exchanging expertise to contribute to the development of the education system.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting focused on activating the terms of the memorandum of cooperation signed between the two ministries. They agreed to form a joint working team to facilitate communication and procedures, and explored the possibility of concluding detailed executive programs.

The two sides discussed the terms of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) to be signed, which pertains to Chinese curricula for middle and secondary education, cooperation in training Saudi teachers to teach Chinese in public schools, and exploring the use of the Chinese experience in developing curricula related to gaming.

Moreover, they reviewed expanding partnerships between Saudi and Chinese universities and research centers in scientific research, graduate studies, scholarships, and cooperation in medical education and training.

The meeting reviewed investment opportunities available to Chinese investors in the education sector in the Kingdom through the "Invest Saudi" platform in addition to the key opportunities in Chinese language education, e-learning, research, development, and innovation.

Additionally, the discussion included an introduction to the Saudi scholarship program for Chinese students through the "Study in Saudi" platform, the mechanisms for activating Chinese scholarships for Saudi students, and the executive program for scholarships to enhance Saudi students' access to seats in top Chinese universities.
