Doha Int Airport Prepares for Increase in Passenger Traffic During Eid Al Fitr

Posted on August 13, 2012 by Web Desk

Doha, August 13 (QNA) – In anticipation of a surge in outbound passenger traffic from Doha International Airport (DIA) ahead of the end of Ramadan / Eid Al Fitr holiday period, DIA would like to advise passengers travelling between Thursday 16 August and Tuesday 21 August to be at the check-in counters at least three hours prior to their scheduled departure time.
Doha International Airport will also deploy additional staff and open more check-in counters at the departure lounges to reduce queues and ensure passengers continue to enjoy a pleasant experience at the airport.
Passengers are also encouraged to utilise the web check-in facility provided by most airlines. The web-check in service enables passengers to check-in between 24 and 48 hours prior to their scheduled flight departure time. Check-in can be done at home, office or anywhere through their mobile devices.
Doha International Airport Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker said that the airport was well prepared for the expected increase in passenger traffic during the forthcoming peak holiday period.
With a premier aviation hub in Doha, he said the airport provided a convenient gateway for passengers travelling to Asia, Europe, Middle East, Africa and The Americas.
Al Baker said: “The continuous growth of Qatar Airways also contributes significantly to the surge in passenger traffic at Doha International Airport. While the airport continues to set new benchmarks in passenger growth, the comfort and convenience of our passengers and operational efficiency at the airport remain our utmost priority.”
The outlook for the second half of 2012 is anticipated to be very positive for Doha International Airport. From January to May 2012, passenger figures rose by 22 percent at DIA to an all time high of 8.5 million passengers compared with 7 million passengers during the same period in 2011. Aircraft movements were also high at a recorded 62,757, a rise of 17 percent compared with 53,583 during the same period in 2011.(QNA
