Diriyah Initiative Focuses on Art and Design in Public Spaces

Diriyah:The Quality of Life Program Center has introduced the 'Create Your Neighborhood's Identity' initiative, collaborating with the Diriyah Gate Development Authority, King Salman Cultural Centers, and AlMashtal Creative Incubator.

According to Saudi Press Agency, this initiative aims to enhance local neighborhood identities and highlight the significance of design and the arts in public space development. It combines capacity-building with community involvement to transform creative ideas into concrete projects that reflect the unique characteristics of each area and cater to the needs of both residents and visitors.

Historic Diriyah will serve as a testing ground for prototypes through art and design projects that draw inspiration from the area's cultural and architectural heritage. These efforts are intended to improve public spaces and reinforce residents' connections with their environment.

Over six to eight weeks, the program will engage 15 to 21 participants, organized into five groups and guided by expert supervision. The goal is to develop and implement one to three public-space projects that embody local identity and provide unique community experiences.

Additionally, the initiative aims to empower design and public art talent by fostering an interactive environment where participants collaborate with experts. Local artists will share their experiences to help participants refine their creative skills, promoting knowledge exchange and linking emerging talent with local artistic and design traditions.
