Riyadh: At the heart of the eighth annual Global Health Exhibition, the Digital Health Forum is discussing the future of digital transformation in healthcare and its role in building smarter, more sustainable systems.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the event is held under the patronage of the Ministry of Health and supported by the Health Sector Transformation Program as part of Saudi Vision 2030. It brings together leaders, innovators, and experts from Saudi Arabia and abroad.

Sessions at the forum emphasize digital transformation as a cornerstone of modern healthcare. Topics include expanded access through telemedicine and hybrid care models, as well as the use of AI-enabled tools that facilitate early intervention and reduce the need for hospital visits.

Participants also highlight alignment with global standards, most notably the International Classification of Diseases (ICD) and the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI). Compliance with data-protection frameworks such as the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is also discussed to ensure reliable, globally comparable health data.

The forum features Malaysia's experience in digital health transformation, presented by Dr. Maheshwara Rao Appannan, Director of the Digital Health Division at Malaysia's Ministry of Health. He outlines innovations in digital infrastructure and how flexible regulation supports investment, research, and healthcare technology.

The forum runs through Thursday, bringing global health leaders and technology innovators together to accelerate digital transformation and build smart, sustainable health systems that improve quality of life and reinforce Saudi Arabia's global leadership in health innovation.
