Kuala Lumpur: On behalf of Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Deputy Minister for Multilateral International Affairs and Supervisor General of the Public Diplomacy Agency Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi participated today in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) - ASEAN Ministerial Meeting hosted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the meeting, Dr. Al-Rassi highlighted Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to strengthen strategic cooperation between the GCC and major regional and international blocs. He recalled the Kingdom's initiative in convening the first GCC-ASEAN Summit held in Riyadh in October 2023, followed by a major economic and investment conference in May 2024. Both events served as pivotal platforms to deepen trade relations and promote mutual investment between the two regions.
Dr. Al-Rassi emphasized that convening a second summit underscores the shared determination of GCC and ASEAN member states to continue building on this momentum. He stressed the need to maintain an accelerated pace of collaboration and to ensure the effective implementation of summit outcomes over the coming two years.
Reaffirming the Kingdom's principled foreign policy, Dr. Al-Rassi reiterated Saudi Arabia's categorical rejection of the ongoing, unprecedented violations committed against the Palestinian people. He also expressed the Kingdom's deep appreciation for ASEAN's consistent support for the Palestinian cause.
The meeting was also attended by the Kingdom's Ambassador to Malaysia Musaed Al-Saleem; Ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Haytham Al-Malki; and Director of the Gulf Cooperation Council Department Anas Alwasedy.
