Defense minister attends main phase of Somod-1 exercise

Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed Zaki attended on Tuesday17/5/2022 the main phase of “Somod-1” military exercise carried out by the Armed Forces’ East of Suez Canal Command to combat terrorism.

The several-day exercise is attended by Chief of Staff Lieutenant-General Osama Askar and commanders of the Armed Forces’ main branches.

Major general Khaled Bayyoumi el Araby, the commander of the east canal forces commander for fighting terrorism delivered a speech during the exercise in which he expressed the Armed Forces’ keenness on offering all kinds of support to the East Canal Command to carry out its tasks successfully in fighting terrorism.

The defense minister conveyed to the army commanders the greetings of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and hailed the performance of the personnel who are taking part in the exercise.

Zaki pointed out to the Armed Forces’ ability to protect the homeland and maintain its sanctities through the advanced military technologies the army possesses.
