Culture Ministry Launches 2025 Handicrafts Research Grant

General

Riyadh: The Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Heritage Commission, has initiated the Handicrafts Grant as part of the Year of Handicrafts 2025 initiative. This program is set to run from July 14 to September 1 and is designed to support specialized research that emphasizes the cultural, social, economic, and intellectual importance of handicrafts in the Kingdom's history.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the grant will focus on six essential themes: the history of handicrafts, promotion of handicrafts, economic impact and competitiveness, technology and its uses, society and handicrafts, and the concepts and cultural significance of handicrafts. This comprehensive approach aims to cover various aspects of handicrafts and their role in society.

Applicants seeking to benefit from this grant must possess either a master's or doctoral degree or demonstrate a substantial research track record. All submissions are required to meet specified deadlines, be exclusive to this grant unless declined, and result in a publishable academic paper. These criteria ensure that the research conducted under this initiative meets high academic standards.

The primary goal of this initiative is to support cognitive research, enhance local knowledge for sustainable development of handicrafts, and encourage communication among experts in the field. Researchers interested in applying for the grant can do so through the Ministry of Culture's website.
