COP27 President: Indigenous people’s experiences contribute to implementing climate change pledges

12 November 2022: The COP27 President Sameh Shoukry praised the value and experiences of indigenous representatives who participated in the COP27 conference in Sharm El Sheikh.

He added that their experiences would contribute to supporting the main objective of the conference, which is the implementation of climate pledges and transforming it into a tangible reality on the ground.

Shoukry’s comments were given at a roundtable with indigenous people delegation at the COP27.

He noted that Egypt was keen to provide the indigenous people a good representation at the COP27 via exempting their pavilion from frees.

The delegation members expressed their appreciation to Shourky for this dialogue as he listened to their concerns over their culture and identity because of climate change impacts.
