General

Riyadh: The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque: provides many specialized services for people with disabilities at the Prophet's Mosque, aimed at enabling them to perform their worship with ease and comfort.

According to Saudi Press Agency, these services include the preparation of several prayer areas within the Prophet's Mosque and its external courtyards dedicated to people with disabilities and the elderly. These areas are equipped with supportive tools such as special chairs for prayer and holders designed at appropriate heights to enable them to have their iftar meals, while also avoiding crowds and facilitating easy access to prayer sites.

The care provided to people with disabilities includes facilities for the deaf and the blind, such as translating the Friday sermon into sign language and providing Braille copies of the Quran. Additional support is given to worshippers from these groups to ensure their needs are met and they are assisted during their time at the mosque until they safely depart after prayer.

Services for people with disabilities and the elderly also extend to the mosque's facilities, with restrooms distributed between the men's and women's areas, designed to suit their needs. There are also escalators that support their access to service facilities, allowing them to directly ascend from the parking lots below the Prophet's Mosque to the courtyards.
